We are a friendly and successful AmDram group that put on a variety of plays from comedy to the more serious and always welcome new members whether it is to act or help behind the scenes.
Welcome to CADS
Our next production
Our next production is Dad's Army, 27-29 Oct 2022 at St Peter’s Church Hall, SL4 2EG
A collage of favourite Dad’s Army scenes selected by their original authors Jimmy Perry and David Croft.
Support our brave but bungling Home Guard at Walmington-on-Sea. U Boats washing up on our shores, a gender inclusive Mum’s Army, a romantic but enigmatic Brief Encounter, a naughty Lady Godiva, with music to gladden indomitable hearts!
Our Stage and Behind It!
We are unique in that we build our own stage just days before each production. We have it in kit form and we are always looking for willing helpers who are good with a hammer and screwdriver to put this together.
We also welcome help with front of house, make-up, costumes, props, scenery, running the bar and all the things essential to a successful production.
Of course if you can put your hand to directing a play, then do get in touch with us.
Our Productions
We usually put on two productions a year - in April and October at St Peter's Hall, Cranbourne, SL4 2EG.
Our regular rehearsal nights are Mondays at the hall with an additional rehearsal night usually on Wednesday also at the hall.
We play to full houses with a great atmosphere and our productions cover a wide range of theatre including serious drama, comedy, period pieces and newly written plays including ones written by some of our own members.
If you don't fancy being on stage, you can still be part of a very friendly group, because there is always plenty to help out with backstage and front of house.
Social Activities
Our social calendar includes walks, picnics, pub nights, themed evenings and visits to other local productions.
QUOTE, from a member!
"I have been with CADS for over 10 years and I can honestly say I do not regret the day I walked apprehensively through the door."
Mike Young, Winkfield Row
QUOTE, from the press!
Following our production of "Murder at Lambton Hall".
"The word amateur in the group's name is almost misleading."
CADS annual picnic 2021
In 2021 CADS celebrated their 30th birthday by holding a picnic in the grounds of their chairman's home.
CADS Annual Picnic. August 2018
A great time was had by forty to fifty members of CADS at our August picnic. This year it was held in the grounds of our chairman's home.
After enjoying a large and varied picnic we formed two teams to compete in our annual games. These included, Sack Race, Wheel Barrow Race, Dressing Up Race, and finishing with, as always, a Tug of War!
After the games it was time to sit back and watch some short sketches, which were put together by some of our members.
